Travis- Woooo….(wiping my brow)…glad I did not get ripped off as this is my first site purchase. I own a bunch I started and have sold one but this is my first buy. I will let you know how it goes with adding $. I have two formats I use one is here: http://apartmentbuildingforsale.net/ this is more of a “blog” type site and does well with adsense. My 2nd format is here: http://collectible-figurines.net/ which is more of ecommerce/store with blog type posts and does a little bit of amazon and adsense combined. Not sure what I will use for the new groovyveg

I was actually looking at this website myself. I’m always scouring the Internet for good buys;) This was a very solid site and in my opinion, a great buy – IF you know how to monetize it effectively and that’s why I didn’t get involved in the bidding. I don’t have the time right now to learn how to monetize it, do the appropriate split testing of various monetizations methods, etc.

At the current revenue figures it will take almost 3 years to get your money back so obviously that isn’t good but the current owner wasn’t monetizing it effectively as he highlighted in his listing. If you can get the revenues up to $500/month (which I don’t think would be too hard to do), you’d be in the black after just 8 months. You have everything in place – aged domain, good PR, lots of backlinks, great traffic, good content, etc. – so it’s just a matter of finding the right monetization model.

The seller referenced another similar site that sold on Flippa. I’d keep an eye on that website to see how the new owner is monetizing it. You might be able to get some good ideas. Good luck to you and nice buy;)
