MOST ACTIVES
www.SEOMasterBlog.com – 38 Bids
SOLD: $335
Established: July 2009
Unique Visitors/Month: 7,000
Net Profit/Month: $0
Description: SEO niche blog with SEO video course.
Comments: You know its a very slow week when the most active listing gets only 38 bids and sells for a measly $335. The site offered for sale made no money but had “tons of potential”…lol. No disrespect to the seller of this site, but his auction listing read like a late-night infommercial. He was really pushing the “potential” of the site. And the best part was, according to the seller, zero work was required to maintain the site! I suppose that’s true if you want to continue to operate a site that doesn’t make any money:) See auction here.
www.StartupStudents.com – 32 Bids
SOLD: $800
Established: July 2007
Unique Visitors/Month: 942
Net Profit/Month: $53
Description: Blog for young entrepreneurs monetized by ads.
Comments: This auction was more evidence that last week was a very slow week in terms of quality websites available for sale. Here was another website that hardly made any money and only generated 32 bids for a sale price of just $800. I will say, however, that the concept was interesting. I also liked the design of the website. I’m still perplexed that a site at this level cracked the most actives list. In a normal week, this would have been a normal run-of-the-mill auction. See auction here.
www.WebTrafficFlow.com – 29 Bids
SOLD: $1,450
Established: February 2010
Unique Visitors/Month: 5,353
Net Profit/Month: $1,500
Description: Advertising membership site.
Comments: I’ve been seeing a lot of these lately – where the seller either makes a bunch of sales and money from a WSO or from a JV launch and then turns around to sell it because the website is a “proven concept” with “lots of potential.” As I’ve said before, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this as long as everything is on the up and up and the buyer knows what they’re investing in. The concept behind this site was interesting but unless you had a lot of JV partners or knew how to promote a membership site like this, it would be a long haul making this baby work – which might be part of the reason why there were only 29 bids. See auction here.
TOP SELLERS
www.StealPIPS.com – $75,000
BIDS: 19
Established: February 2010
Unique Visitors/Month: 88,000
Net Profit/Month: $190,000/month
Description: Forex site selling a Forex robot.
Comments: This website may seem familiar because it was listed as the top seller last week. I’m not sure what happened but when I did the Snapshot last week it was listed as sold on May 1st. The sold date was then switched to May 9th. Either way, it appears I’ll need to edit last week’s Snapshot. I’ll just repeat my comments I made about this sale in last week’s Snapshot:
The Forex niche has been a hot niche for a while and continues to be as indicated by this sale. There is a ton of money to be paid in this niche as either a Forex product owner or affiliate – but it’s also highly competitive. The product being sold on the site was initially sold as a large product launch through JV’s. The concept is similar to the WSO flip in that you release a product, make tons of sales and money in a very short period of time, and then turn around and sell the site as a “proven” winner. Again, I have no problem with this type of flip especially if the seller is honest and upfront on what’s going on – which was the case with this listing. Buyers just need to be aware of what they’re getting and they need to know that the revenues shown aren’t “typical.” See auction here.
www.Lucky7TattooEquipment.com – $25,100
BIDS: 7
Established: April 2009
Unique Visitors/Month: 12,000
Net Profit/Month: $3,294
Description: Tattoo ecommerce site.
Comments: I finally get to report on an ecommerce site! These sites don’t come around too often despite the fact ecommerce sites are one of the most watched types of sites on Flippa according to their tagging system. This website sold tattoo kits and equipment. After taking a closer look at this auction, I should have bought this myself as there was a lot of upside to this investment. The website was generating around $3,000 net profit per month and as much as $4,500 net profit per month during the late months in 2009 – and the overall design and layout of the site was lacking to say the least. Just giving the website a face lift and adding a blog to it would make a huge difference. How did I let this one slip by…arggg. See auction here.
www.AutomobileInsuranceReview.com – $18,999
BIDS: 10
Established: May 2005
Unique Visitors/Month: 5,000
Net Profit/Month: $1,233
Description: Auto insurance content site monetized by ads.
Comments: No surprise here that this site did so well. You had an established website in the highly competitive auto insurance niche that was consistently generating anywhere from $1,000 – $1,500 per month. See auction here.
